THE EXHIBITION

Spring in Motion @ Mooch Gallery
Tuesday, May 1 – Sunday, May 20, 2018
Opening Reception: Sunday, April 29 from 2-5 PM (private) Location: 151 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60601

Mooch Gallery is pleased to announce its inaugural pop-up exhibition, Spring in Motion, a group show curated by Susan M B Chen.

In the slow wake of Spring here in Chi town, Spring in Motion searches beyond for the evolving actions at work, whether it’s the fast-paced, gestural and lyrical qualities of an abstract landscape painting, or the slow and meditative rituals of an intricate interior drawing. Moments are frozen in figurative scenes, then sped up again in digital pixels. A clock is ticking in the background: disguised in the form of a crystalized painting, it decays over the course of time. Spring is in motion, both inside and out.

The works in the show range in two-dimensional medium from painting, drawing, to digital print. The art is created by a group of sixteen young and ambitious emerging artists from within, and beyond, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s painting and drawing community. Featured artists include: Jose Aponte, Decheng Cui, Brian Driscoll, Xujun Han, Anne Harris, Beverly Keefer, Minami Kobayashi, Brian Madonna, Shoora Majedian, Kelly Neibert, Sean O’Gara, Thomas Andrew Osorio, Freddy Ruiz, E.R. Saba, Todd Stong, and Christine Turner.

The exhibition opens with a reception on Sunday, April 29th from 2-5 PM at Mooch Gallery’s pop-up location at Millennium Park Plaza in the Loop. The exhibition will be on view from Tuesday, May 1 to Sunday, May 20, 2018.  Gallery hours are open via appointment only.
